Canine Carnivore Raw Diet

Why Raw Dog Food? It's about DNA...

Canine Carnivore Raw Food Diet Although dogs live as domesticated companions in our households, and we’ve breed them to fit our preferences, inside however, dogs are 99% identical to their wild ancestor…the wolf. Their digestive system and nutritional requirements have not changed as a result of domestication. While humans have a long intestinal tract geared to the digestion of plant material, wolves and dogs have a short digestive tract suited for the consumption and digestion of raw meat--- a diet based on its natural state i.e., meat , bones, blood and organs of prey. Although it is not necessary, veggie puree can be added (supplemented) to the meat diet to simulate intestinal contents of the wolf’s prey.

Unlike cooked food, live enzymes are found in raw meat and are crucial in the breakdown of proper digestion and absorption of nutrients. When food is cooked, nutrients lose their value and the pancreas must work harder to breakdown food for energy. Dogs and puppies should be fed raw meaty bones regularly. Bones are an important source of calcium and they naturally clean teeth and develop neck and jaw muscles. The chewing action prepares their stomach for food intake and slows down the eating process making it more difficult for over consumption and weight gain.

B.A.R.F / S.A.R.F to the Rescue

This natural, common sense regimen is known as B.A.R.F. (Biologically Appropriate Raw Food), or S.A.R.F (Species Appropriate Raw Food) diet - the closest replication to a wild wolf’s diet.

Canine Carnivore Raw Food Diet In contrast to what the commercial pet industry will tell you, dogs have no or little requirement for carbohydrates such as beans, corn, grains or any gluten's. Processed cereal based diets regularly found in dry kibble and canned pet foods, not only are biologically inappropriate, but can increase a wide range of chronic ailments such as allergies, autoimmune disorders, cancers, skin allergies, tooth decay, etc.

Most commercial pet foods undergo processing methods such as heating, irradiation or other chemical manipulation that destroy all enzymes and most essential vitamins. Other harmful ingredients can be added such as preservatives, flavor enhancers and nonnutritive substances to extend shelf life to make kibble more palatable. Once again---unnatural to the carnivore’s system.

A raw meat diet is quickly becoming the gold standard towards a proactive, holistic strategy in preventive healthcare for our canine companions. To get all the nutrition food has to offer, it must be raw.
